The Twilight Series.

The “Twilight” movie series are five movies based on four books from Stephenie Meyer that revolves around a human girl that gets involved in the lives of vampires and werewolves. In just four years, “Twilight” became one of the most successful film series of all-time. The five films together have been able to gross over 3.3 billion dollars at the box office worldwide, and are now available for viewing through www.tvbydirect.com/directv-deal/ as well as other providers.

The first film in the series, “Twilight”, was released in November 2008. The film revolves around the relationship of Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson. The popularity of the book series caused “Twilight” to be an instant hit at the box office. The first “Twilight” movie would go on to gross over 392 million.

“New Moon,” the second in the film series, would be released the following November to even greater success. Many people had seen the first film on DVD by the time “New Moon” was released, which only helped build a larger fan base. “New Moon” revolves around Bella’s new friendship with werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner, after Edward has left her. “New Moon” made over 142 in its first weekend, and would go on to earn over 709 million during its worldwide theatrical run.

The third film in the series, “Eclipse,” was released in June 2010. “Eclipse” reunites Bella with Edward as they eventually decide to get married. While “Eclipse” earned more money than “New Moon” in the United States, its worldwide box office totals were slightly lower at 698 million.

The final book in the series, “Breaking Dawn,” was broken into two movies to capitalize on the popularity of the series at the box office. Bella marries Edward, gets pregnant with his child and has him transform her into a vampire in “Breaking Dawn Part 1.” The film would make 712 million worldwide.

Fans would flock to the theaters to see the conclusion of the series in November 2012, which would make “Breaking Dawn Part 2″ the most successful film in the series earning 829 million. The film ends with Edward, Bella, Jacob and Bella’s daughter living happily together.
